December 11, 2017, Huntington, NY – Councilman Mark Cuthbertson and the Town of Huntington Human Services Institute were proud to present the winners of the first “Huntington Cares: Halloween Photo Contest for a Cause”with their prizes at a ceremony at Huntington Town Hall last night.  Participants submitted photos in any or all of five categories; baby costume, child costume, adult costume, family costume and pet costume. The photograph with the most votes in total was “Chief Cooper Madison to the Rescue” by Lori Madison with 427 votes, and was awarded the grand prize of an iPad and $2,500 to be donated in his name to the Save the Children Foundation – Hurricane Maria Children’s Relief Fund.  This donation will help those in need in Puerto Rico in response to the devastation caused by Hurricane Maria.

The winners in each category were as follows: Babies (2 and under) is “Jaylen as a Dinosaur” by Andrea Roberts with 316 votes; Adults (18 & above) “My Beautiful Daughter” by Angela Camarda with 176 votes; Families “Family of Guardians!” by Seth Rostan with 152 votes; and Pets “Nala in a Homemade Pinata” by Jennifer Chung with 72 votes.

Councilman Mark Cuthbertson stated, “I am proud to have hosted this fun holiday photo contest, which was also for a great cause.  Thanks to everyone who took the time to enter the contest and make it a success and congratulations to all of the winners! Special thanks to our major sponsors at Rubie’s Costume Company, Value Drugs, DQ Grill and Chill, and Covanta, who through their generous donations, helped to make the ‘Halloween photo contest for a cause’ a reality.  I also wish to thank all of the local businesses as well for contributing to this contest.”
